I've been reading a book called River City the story starts off about a riot that's taking place in Montreal. It's historical fiction that then traces how Montreal came to be, starting with Jacques Cartier and Iroquois and traces it to Pierre Trudeau/Rene Levesque time. Funny thing is that for the past week, I've been reading the section about the War Measures Act (1970 crisis). Today, I came across and article about the current student protests in Quebec and the article also mentions the War Measures Act.

We were driving home and we saw a sign about a yard sale happening on our street, but it was in the industrial part of our street so we were curious and decided to go for a visit. We drive past the residential houses...and it get's quieter and we see the industrial buildings and we turn in. I don't see many people but I see a lot of cars parked there (it's a Saturday so there shouldn't be any cars parked in this area). We slowly roll up to tables set up with the merchandise/junk and decided it's not worth getting out of the car. Don't really see anyone checking out the yard sale either. We figured the easiest way to get out of the parking lot is by circling around the building. So we continue, and see more cars, but not people. As we turn the corner, I see a big group of asian guys (ten or more), standing and sitting. This is an oddity since there aren't asian guys in our area. I honestly thought it was some weird underground gambling group or asian gang meeting. They are sort of facing us but not looking in our direction until we approach. Dennis and I turn to look to see what they were looking at and all I see is a car, with girl in front of it, wearing something like a bikini bottom (i can see her bum hanging out) and I was too shocked to see what she was wearing on top. When I looked back at the group of guys, then I noticed the photographer. Oops, looks like we interrupted a car model shoot. Needless to say, we couldn't circle around the building, without driving through the photoshoot so dennis had to turn into a parking spot and back out.

To go, or not to go?
I can see it being a very awkward event as I haven't kept up with most of the people and I went to a different high school from most of them. I can't help thinking Romy and Michele's High School Reunion.
Filled out my bracket challenge today. I didn't know what I was doing. Dennis said to pick which school I would most like to go to.

For those of you who went through my Peru pictures, you'll notice that I didn't have any pictures from the garbage dump experience. But luckily, one of the people (we call him Chris from Seattle) who we spent time with in Peru was invited to spend the night at the garbage dump and you can read his experiences in this article found in the Sammammish Review.
