crazy busy this week

so i'm finally getting a handle on things but i'm still incredibly busy. I watched Hawaii Five O show and recognized the filming locations. Yay!
Tuesday I had to pick up dennis' parents from the airport but in the end someone from their church also showed up to pick them up so then i drove all the way from the airport back down to downtown to pick up dennis.

wednesday, we had important customers so i had to go out and have dinner with them. Originally we made reservations at Canoe so i told dennis i would drop off my car downtown on my way to Canoe but then we cancelled the reservation and relocated to Oliver's. I still ended up driving downtown to pick up Dennis but then he's in one of those buildings where you need a pass to get into the building and then you need a pass to operate the elevator or to enter each floor from the staircase. His phone wasn't working and my battery died. Yeah, not a good situation. I managed to get someone to let me in, and these two guys told me they were going to a party in the building and asked me to come and I was like "I already have plans. I'm here to pick up my husband." I found out that there were two parties going on in the building. One was an event for interior designers and one for haircutting?!?! Not too sure. I figured out why Dennis' area is full or trendy people who ride one speed bicycles and who carry around the lululemon bags...turns out his building is near TAXI (the ad agency).

So I went to oliver's for dinner and it was really good and the best part is that it was free. yay! good food for free balances out the fact that it was mandatory socializing.

I think the new girl that I hired is possible a Christian. She was asking me what church i go to and i found out that she mentors 13 and 14 year old girls for her church (Reformed church). She's like me - watches TV shows during the lunch break and my boss likes her.

So my boss asks me to go get his car and drive it back to the company. he couldn't leave the company as he was expecting the very important customers to show up at any minute. I hesitate because I don't want to wreck his car but in the end I say okay. i get into a car with this guy who is driving me to the garage and he's like "so, are you ready to drive a Porsche?" and i thought he was joking because I didn't realize that my boss drove a porsche cayenne turbo (the funny thing was the previous night I was watching a show about ferrari versus a porsche 911 turbo and the host was talking about how great it was to drive the porsche 911 turbo and i was thinking to myself how i will never have the opportunity to drive a porsche). I was so nervous getting behind the wheel of the porsche and all I could think of was "it's a short distance...i won't get into an accident or hit the curb....." success..i made it back to the office in one piece. The only thing i did wrong was that the first time i pressed the brake, i pressed to hard and it made this wretched sound. The car still ran okay after that, so i assume i didn't break anything.

Last night, I got a chance to see a free advanced screening of Never Let Me Go which I have to say is a movie that left me depressed. I didn't watch the trailer so I didn't know what the movie was about and was surprised when it took a Sci-Fi twist (which is apparently very evident according the trailer). It was one of those Slow-as-Gosford-Park films that will get nominated for some Oscars. By slow, I mean the camera focuses on a clock for 5 seconds, and then it will pan over objects on a table for like 10 seconds before focusing on the people in the room. The camera spends a lot of time on stuff other than people. The subject matter was really heavy. The theatre was completely quiet except for the random sobbing behind us. Dennis really liked it. Thank you Amanda for my date night with Dennis to see the saddest film on earth (I didn't cry though). Carey Mulligan did a great job. I'll be surprised if she doesn't get nominated for a best actress. Apparently the book is heartbreaking and people cried while reading the book as well. i liked Inception more.

I discovered a Christian book store in Oakville. GREAT!

I'm reading ken follet's book that follows Pillars of the Earth and it's just not as good. No weddings this weekend. Hurray!
